Traceroute information consists of a list of all servers contacted between a user's machine and the remote machine from which data is being retrieved. Also provided are the average "seek times" that elaspe as data packets pass through the various servers. In Windows 95/98, you can run a traceroute by opening an MS-DOS Prompt and typing "ping truehosting.com" or "ping [ip address]". You can, of course, replace "truehosting.com" with any domain name you wish, and [ip address] must be replaced with a numerical address such as 127.0.0.1. |
